We work on behalf of your gas, electricity and water suppliers in the UK - installing, maintaining and reading meters in your home.
We want you to feel safe and secure in your home when our employees call and therefore all our employees are vetted, trained and must adhere to strict operating procedures designed to deliver what we promise. This includes our doorstep protocol, which follows standards set out by the Trading Standards Institute and local police forces, to ensure the highest level of service to our customers in their homes.
All of our meter readers and meter engineers have passed our thorough security screening. Everyone has to carry an identity card showing their name and a recent colour photograph. If you have any doubts at all about the identity of the caller, then please call the telephone number printed on the identity card for verification.
Siemens Metering Services is signed up to and supports the National Doorstep Cold Calling Protocol. This is a code of conduct drawn up by the Trading Standards Institute and local police forces throughout England & Wales to encourage best practice in doorstep services.
We also offer a personal password scheme for added safety. You can choose your own secure password. Our meter reader or engineer will use the password when they call. If you would like to know more about the password scheme, call your energy or water supplier. Their phone number is printed on your energy bills. Ask to see the identity card before letting the meter reader or engineer in. If you are not sure, please do call us. Our Customer Services call centre will be happy to check their identity for you. They may ask you to describe what the person looks like, as they have photos and details of all our meter readers and engineers.
Call us on 0800 015 2221 before you let a meter reader or engineer into your home. Our meter reading and engineering staff will be happy to wait while you call to check their identity. They understand that your safety and peace of mind comes first.
